Distance learning, virtual learning, remote learning ????? What does your district call it? No matter what you call it, we all call it different, weird, unreal and the adjectives continue...… In the last few months I have heard several teachers say, We did not sign up for this! Well, no we did not but we are PE teachers and we can certainly adapt like no others!  Distance learning and teaching remotely might have you feeling a bit overwhelmed and anxious, but with time and patience you can do it!  My goal with distance learning is to find a variety of activities that help students foster their love for movement and athletics.  When students become responsible for their own learning at home they become better learners and are fully engaged in improving their overall personal fitness and skills. Welcome to the blog post of Ready Set P.E.!  I’m very excited to get the opportunity to collaborate and share with you.  I hope you will find my posts inspirational, helpful and useful to spark some creative ideas for your students and classrooms. As a P.E. teacher for over 30 years I have tried many approaches to get kids moving and having fun.  Without a doubt, I’m sure you can agree that kids move the most when they are engaged and having fun.  Most recently I have been focusing on movement games and activities that engage the whole body and brain.  My students love the challenge of incorporating math and critical thinking skills into our P.E. sessions.  Fitness would be so boring if the students just had to do plain old calisthenics each and every day.  So, why not make it fun and cross curricular?  I feel like the kids are so busy thinking that they forget they are actually exercising.  That is a win, win for me and the kids.
