Baby It’s Cold Outside!  We all know the feeling, you have a great lesson planned and then you get the dreaded email from admin that says “School pictures will be in the gym on Tuesday and you will need to plan ahead to have PE in the classroom on that day”.  It’s winter and too cold to go out and you are now fuming!  Why me, why my gym, why do I have to realign my curriculum for school pictures and everything else that the gym is needed for!  After you freak out and possibly have a private temper tantrum then reality sets in and you start searching for some indoor activities that challenge your students and can be completed safely in a small space.

Let me help you out and destress you with some easy to follow indoor small space activities that will have your students engaged and begging for more.

Cross Curricular Movement

I love to combine the classroom skills with our PE activities.  Kindergarten students love hands-on high energy activities. Go for the big WIN here and get out the dice.  Use small dice, big dice, paper dice, any dice you can come up with and watch them go!

1-36 Dice Addition is perfect to work on counting and movement skills all at the same time.  This dice game can easily be modified to 1-6, 1-12, 1-18, 1-24, 1-36.  It is your choice how high you want your students to go to.

How does it work?

  • Students roll the dice

  • Students count the dots

  • Students complete the corresponding exercise

  • The exercise chart includes pictures

To help support your emerging readers

Ten Frame Counting  Boot Camp Fitness

  •  Count the number of soldiers in the ten frame

  • Choose the correct answer

  • Complete that number of the exercise

  • The ten frames include pictures to support your emerging readers.
