Let it Snow❄️, Let it Snow❄️, Let it Snow❄️Got the winter blues?  Try creating a winter wonderland to add some fun and excitement to your winter PE classes.  Kids love theme days!

How do I create a Winter Wonderland?  Go simple or

go big? The choice is yours.  Here are some ideas.

  • Use cotton balls or packing peanuts to create

snow flakes all over your gym.  Amazon has

some great pieces on large quantities of cotton

balls.  Contact your local UPS to see if they can

donate some packing peanuts.

  • If you really want to go crazy, use a fan to allow

snow to circulate around the room.

  • Use posters or backdrops on the wall.

  • Hand cut snowflakes to hang in doorways. Ask your classroom teachers to have a snow flake time and have students make snowflakes to hang in the gym.

  • Purchase snowmen to display in the gym.  The hard part of this one is storage from year to year.

  • Snow means winter clothing.  Scatter gloves, hats….. Around the room.  I go to Goodwill at the end of the season and stock up for the next year.

  • Dollar Tree is my best friend for winter stuff. Start small and add on each year and before you know it you will have a fantastic winter wonderland!

So now you have the Winter Wonderland assembled, what next?  Here are some fun Winter Themed activities that will get your kids fired up.

Snowball Tag

Equipment Needed

1-2 fleece balls per students,

 Optional 4-6 tumbling mats

Optional fun music

Game Directions

Each student has 1-2 snowballs to throw at others.

You must throw a snowball to get someone out. If

you are hit with a snowball fall down and do 3 snow

angels to get back in the game.  Optional-turn

tumbling mats on their sides and use them as

snow forts for kids to run in and out of and to

hide behind. Turn on the music and let them enjoy

a good old fashioned snowball fight.

Jack Frost - Jane Thaw Tag

Equipment Needed

3-4 Noodle pieces for the taggers

Game Directions

3-4 Players will be the Jack Frost Taggers. Explain to students frost is cold so when Jack Frost Touches you then you are frozen.  Frozen players should bend down and squeeze tight like a frozen snowball.  To get unfrozen you must wait for the Jane Thaw “Sunshine Player” to tag you.  When Jane Thaw touches you then you are back in the game.  I use blue noodles for Jack Frost Taggers and Yellow like the sunshine for Jane Thaw.  IF you do not have noodle pieces try using pinnies/jerseys.  Every 2-3 minutes change taggers and sunshine players.
